FAQ - Frequently asked questions

What is VISASTAR?

Visa Star is an independent and autonomous service agency and does not act on behalf of embassies or other authorities. However, we maintain good contacts with the embassies and consulates in Berlin. We charge service fees for our services.

Why is it better to entrust VISASTAR with the procurement of the certifications or visas?
  • If there is a diplomatic mission in your city that is authorized to issue visas or certify documents, then it would theoretically be possible to take care of these procedures yourself. But keep in mind: The delivery and the collection of your documents are sometimes connected with not insignificant waiting times. Often a second or third visit (with corresponding waiting times and travel distances) is necessary because forms are filled out incorrectly or the documents are not complete. A visa application or document certification can turn into a lengthy and costly procedure. We take care of all these procedures for you.
  • Our Know-How: Through daily and personal contact with the embassies and consulates we enable a smooth processing of your requests. We know the regulations of the individual countries and prepare your documents accordingly. You should also not forget: Visa applications or orders for certifications received by the consulates by mail are not processed with the same speed as applications submitted in person by one of our employees.
  • In addition, a number of consulates do not accept submissions by mail. Take us at our word and use our reliable, fast and stress-free service!
What is legalization / authentication?

Legalization is a procedure in which a German document that is to be presented before a foreign authority is certified as to its authenticity by a foreign representative office (embassy, consulate) of that very country.

How long does it take to process my documents?

Standard: 7-12 business days (depending on the embassy) and Express (available at many embassies) 2 business days from the time we receive it until 10am.

What is an apostille?
  • The Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents was signed in The Hague, the Netherlands, in 1961.
  • This Convention exempts Contracting States from additional document legalization.
  • It stipulates that an apostille is the only form of document legalization required by the contracting states.
  • An apostille is an official stamp of the competent authority that certifies the authenticity and legal validity of your documents.

About VISA:

Why is my visa taking longer than planned to be issued?

We can only guarantee the processing time at our office. The consulates and embassies have their own non-guaranteed processing times. However, we are in close contact with the consulates and do our best to provide you with your visa as soon as possible.

When do I have to pay for the visa?

When the visa is ready or the approval process is completed, you will receive an invoice from us by e-mail. After the payment is received, your visa will be sent to you by e-mail or by mail (depending on the country and type of visa).
